Happy Father's Day

We surprised Brian with a weekend trip to Monterey for Father's Day! I let Jake tell him on Thursday night (mind you, I only told Jake 10 minutes prior, as secret keeping is not his strength). We visited the Aquarium and the kids had a great time...they both loved all of the sea creatures....and Mia made friends with an especially affectionate penguin....they kissed through the glass for awhile ;) We brought bikes and rode down to the wharf/pier for dinner and then headed back there in the morning for crepes...YUM. The pool was heated to 80 degrees, which was warmer than the outside temperature, so we spent a lot of time in there....both kids love the water, so the pool was a big hit. On Sunday, we rode bikes down the path that runs along the ocean.....it's fun that Jake can ride on his own now....and Mia is thrilled as can be to ride on the back of Daddy's bike. She turns around quite often and says "hi guys" to me and Jake. It was a really nice way to celebrate Father's Day and have some quality family time....my gift to Brian was to have left my computer at home....and the kids treated him extra special. What lucky kids they are to have Brian as their dad.

2 years old

I tried several times to get an official "2 year" picture of Mia. Here are some of my favorites...

The actual birthday....

I knew I had taken pictures on her actual birthday......they were on my iPhone....I'm still getting used to my new fancy techie device :) So here they are...not super exciting, but we did "document" our special girl's big day. Of course, we started out with a trip to the donut shop.....in jammies. It's funny the things that kids think are fun....one of them is going somewhere in their jammies (another is eating food from the drive thru IN the car). So, we indulged them and let them choose whatever they wanted....and I'm not one to complain about going to get donuts. We then spent the morning at the Art & Wind festival where they got to do some rides and watch some cook kites. And what would a birthday be without a little sugar overload?? So we ended our trip with a visit to the ice cream shop. We finished off the day with the traditional birthday dinner at Grammie and Gramps. The sun was shining, the kids were happy, and we had a great family day celebrating our big girl!

Mia is 2

Well, it's happened.....my baby has turned 2. With Jake it was different because I had another baby on the way when he turned 2! They are both so much fun right now, but it does make me a little sad (okay, a LOT sad) that my baby days are long gone!  Here are some pics from Mia's birthday :)

Yay for presents!  Jake was very proud to have picked out a doctor set for her ;)

Loving the chair....

New toys!!

Traditional birthday dinner at Grammie and Gramps house!

Is it me, or does she SERIOUSLY look older than the pictures from last week?!!

Random pics.....

Daddy is in hog heaven....BOTH kids snuggling.

She's givin' it a whirl!  I still think we're a long way off, but am happy to encourage the diaper graduation!

Yet more evidence that Mia needs a dog.  She is taking good care of Selena

Just "helping" me......the ribbon is much easier to use if it's all taken OFF of the spools.

Doesn't get much cuter than this....

my loves

Seattle visit

We had a great trip to Seattle a couple of months ago, but I'm just now updating the pictures!  The kids had SO much fun together.  To our amazement, we did not have any arguing, fighting, etc. the entire time we were there....Staci and I said that it was just as we imagined our kids would play together, back in "the day".  We miss you, Wallace/Darlingon's!!

Story time.....and yes, I do wear a bathrobe pretty much all the time in Seattle....gotta keep warm.

Of course, Uncle Kaffy did a whole cookie decorating extravaganza.....the kids loved it!

I think my kids could get used to this life...

Celebrating Aiden and Jake's birthdays ;)

Mia, giving Pepper some love.....oh, how she adores doggies!

The traditional bath and splash.....

Mia and Quinn in their matching jammies....and Mia being super cooperative.

Donuts in our jammies!
