Jake and Brian did a bike tour through the rainforest. Shocker, but Brian didn't take any pics so this one in front of the tour bus is it....but it sounded like a lot of fun!
The kiddos in front of our cabin.
Jake and Brian went zip lining....this time he humored me and at least BROUGHT his camera....but this is the only pic he brought back.
While the boys were of adventuring, Mia and I went horseback riding through the rainforest to get to the beach. I'm not super comfortable on horses but this was really relaxing and fun.
We learned that the green ants bite (and it hurts) but if you grab them gently on the head and give them a lick, they provide vitamin C and taste like lime. I took the guide's word for it but.....
Brian can't resist a tree in the jungle and definitely can't resist a swinging branch!
HELLO....from Jake. He was quite proud of his sand art.
My boys....on the most beautiful, quiet beach. It's really strange to have such a gorgeous sandy beach on a sunny day and not be able to go in the water. The 2 hour bus ride was filled with stories about people getting eaten by crocs and stung to the point of shock by jellyfish. Needless to say, our toes stayed in the sand.
Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.....literally.
Super cool tree.....photo cred to Mia
The pictures really don't capture the massive quantities of huge trees!
We did the crocodile river tour but this was the only one we saw....
We made our way back from the rainforest and did some snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. The kids LOVED it....much more than we even expected. Mia and I saw a shark which was awesome. And nobody barfed = WIN.
Oh, happy day.....this girl had been waiting for her big snuggle moment with a real live koala. He was almost as big as her!
Jake reports that the koalas are as stinky as people say....and insisted on changing his shirt afterwards.
Kangaroo feeding!! So fun!
Breakfast with the birds
Jake....testing out his kangaroo hopping skills
Tough to see it in the background but it's the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge behind us.
When we told Jake that we were going to Australia, his immediate question was whether we would be staying near the Scooter Hut, which he has learned about from watching scooter videos on YouTube. I was thrilled to tell him YES and that we could go to their Sydney store. Well, it turns out that it's kinda like the outlet mall in Livermore saying it's the San Francisco Outlets.....just a 1 hour train ride to their "Sydney" store but his smile was worth it....scooter heaven for this guy!
The fam on the beach where Brian and I stayed on our honeymoon
A rare pic of me with the kids....enjoying the botanical gardens.
Let's face it.....dads are fun.
Even more rare....a pic of JUST the two of us....thank you, Mia.
Probably my favorite outing from our trip was surfing at Bondi Beach. We were all able to get up on the surfboards and ride some waves....yes, even me. The kids even went back a second day. Wish the water was warmer here....it really is a fun sport!
